Good little restaurant. Food is consistent and service is ok but spotty. Sometimes personable, sometimes all business even on a light day. But definitely a staple in Ellwood. I prefer breakfast over lunch as burgers are fair, not great. However the eggs and bacon are always go to items. The only down side is parking is a pain in the neck at times. Score Food Quality 3 Service 3 Atmosphere 3 Value 3 Recommend 4 (extra point for consistent quality food)

I can't believe I rated this place four stars the first time I came here. I have been going every week since my first trip here. The food is that good. Every week I get something different. My favorite so far has been the sausage and biscuits. Jay and I have yet to spend over 15.00 dollars here for two meals. I love it.

Carla's Diner is easy to miss. It looks like a house with a wheelchair accessible ramp outside. The interior is cleaner than any other diner in town, not that that's hard, and the prices are low. We went late in the morning on a Saturday and there was a steady flow of patrons on their way in and out the entire time. Anyone that lives/dines in the area but doesn't actually regularly communicate with Ellwood folk surely recognizes the potential for people watching this type of traffic gives you. There are some interesting, albeit kind and decent, people frequenting this place and the waitresses knew some of them by name. The small-town feel is great and the food compliments the atmosphere nicely. Were the breakfast sandwich and home fries I ordered the best I ever had? No. It wouldn't have been impossible to make something similar, if not better, at home myself, but it was homey and comforting. And at a price under five dollars a person including our coffee, I'd have to be a moron to complain. There was amix up with our coffee that our server attributed to a communication with her coworkers, but her apology seemed sincere enough to me and she quickly brought us our coffee after noticing that it hadn't been brought to the table.
